The Sun works just fine as a DOD server with any call-by-call provider I have tried (see (1d/e) for an example. The isdn4bsd setup works as a dial-in server with the usual wintel dialup clients and with my Acer T50 from home. But trying to connect the isdn4bsd box from the sun results in a LCP configure loop (according to my limited understanding of the ppp protocol, that is) - see (1a) for the Sun and (2a) for the isdn4bsd side. Please ask for any missing information. Any pointers and helpful comments would be greatly appreciated. Well - that was one. Picking a mru != 1500 or assigning no mru (default 1500) on the Sun got me further. (2a) has the log for the isdn4bsd side (same setup as before), (1a) the log for the Sun and (1b) the ppptrace for the Sun. AFAICS, the two sides fail to successfully negociate some ipcp option. Result is that the Sun thinks the connection is up (a 'snoop -d isppp0' showed outgoing DNS traffic) but the i4b machine never sends anything back (apart from icp keepalive packets). What the problems are with (Sun) 19:36:03: Tangro_0 Send: LCP Packet Protocol Reject [id: 02] [length: 000a] Rejected Protocol: 8057 Rejected Packet: Incorrect LCP Packet and (isdn4bsd) Jul 1 19:36:26 Problem 1 is that the config entry hangup flag is zeroed only at CONNECT_ACTIVE_IND in msghdl.c. If any (other) call is disconnected after EV_MDO and before CONNECT_ACTIVE_IND, the cleanup routine will disconnect the in-progress dialout as well, if its hangup flag is nonzero (which it is likely to be) after the previous incarnation of the cfg entry. Patch-1 fixes this by clearing the hangup flag as soon as a cfg entry is reserved for the call. Problem 2 is that doing a local hangup (eg. by writing "H" to the dialout device) to a call which is already disconnected results in isdnd moving the cfg entry to an illegal state, from which there is no recovery. This is tricky because there is no way to synchronize local hangup with the remote end (ie. the callee can always hang up at an inconvenient time)! Hence, patch-2 alters fsm.c's EV_DRQ state table such that the local hangup request is processed or ignored in most states, even for disconnected calls. Both of the above problems seem to remain in -current, so I thought to push the patches out there. A third semi-generic modification we are using is the capability to launch answerprog for dialled out connections as well as incoming ones. I can provide this patch as well if there is more general interest. Up to now I'm sing FreeBSD 4.1-RELEASE and the i4b version included in this release. In the mailing list archives i found messages from Febrary or March this year, which told me that the problem is known, but I didn't find any info if there is anything in progress, or if there is anything an "outsider" can do (testing "-current" code, for example). In the readmes and web pages I found, the 2.0 Fritz!pci doesn't even exist. Symptoms on booting a kernel with an isic driver (there is no ifpi in 4.1) are: - no isic is found - a unknown PCI card with the AVM A1_VID and a DID of 0x0e00 is found. This corresponds with the mails of 2/2001 or 3/2001 in the freebsd-isdn i archive. Any answer is welcome, thnks in advance for it. The AVM Fritz!Card PCI 2.0 is _NOT_ supported by any release of i4b and currently i do not know of any work in progress to get this card supported. hellmuth -- Hellmuth Michaelis Tel +49 40 55 97 47-70 HCS Hanseatischer Computerservice GmbH Fax +49 40 55 97 47-77 Oldesloer Strasse 97-99 Mail hm [at] hcs.de D-22457 Hamburg WWW http://www.hcs.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Wed Jul 4 4:51:46 2001 Delivered-To: freebsd-isdn@freebsd.org Received: from smtp06.iafrica.com (smtp06.iafrica.com [196.2.51.5]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6B74437B403 for ; Wed, 4 Jul 2001 04:51:43 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from ffkrz@iafrica.com) Received: from ayon ([196.7.204.20]) by smtp06.iafrica.com (Sun Internet Mail Server sims.3.5.2000.03.23.18.03.p10) with SMTP id <0GFY00HTS5L1US@smtp06.iafrica.com> for freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.org; Wed, 4 Jul 2001 13:36:38 +0200 (SAT) Date: Wed, 04 Jul 2001 13:37:12 +0200 From: Francois Kritzinger Subject: Re: ISDN continued: few more questions To: Arjan Knepper Cc: freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.org Message-id: <003201c1047d$ab617ac0$1901a8c0@ayon> MIME-version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2314.1300 Content-type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2314.1300 References: <000701c102f9$6b731160$1901a8c0@ayon> <3B408330.8F0350A2@jak.nl> X-Priority: 3 Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org I still can't get it to work... I've removed my sound card because its presence caused the modem to not be detected in freebsd. dmesg reports " unknown: USR Sportster internal: could not allocate resources". When I tried port? it reported that it "could not allocate io base" or something like that. I've tried every IRQ setting, everything I could think of in the BIOS, your advice, I've done about 50 kernel builds... I did not see a section in the BIOS for reserved IRQ's for ISA devices though. Also, no matter what I did (changing the modem's IRQ jumpers, BIOS settings, etc.), the boot-up procedure (pre-OS boot, when it lists ISA/PnP devices) always reports the modem to be on IRQ 5. ???. How do you change this? Do you think this is a card-specific problem? I ask because I am borrowing a friend's USR right now, I might buy a Dynalink later. How do you change this? Don't know. Bios upgrade? Read the ISDN-adapter specs. Did it come with driver disks? Maybe you have to set the IO and IRQ via a dos or win9X utility on the board. > Do you think this is a card-specific problem?
